Child, Adolescent and Family Psychotherapist
Sarah is a child, adolescent and family Psychotherapist. Sarah has worked in mental health for 16 years. She has a passion for providing therapeutic support in community locations. She has particular interests in working with issues caused by trauma and considering the links between exercise and mental health. Sarah initially studied Psychology at York University. She then progressed to counselling at Birkbeck University, UCL. She went on to train in psychodynamic psychotherapy with children, young people and parents at the Tavistock and Portman Clinic. In addition, Sarah studied CBT for children and young people at KCL. She has worked in a variety of settings, these include the NHS, voluntary and statutory sector settings.
Sarah was first introduced to mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT) during her psychotherapy training. She soon found that by practicing mindfulness she was better able to cope with the emotional demands of being a trainee therapist. Alongside a colleague, Sarah adapted the eight-week MBCT course to support young people. She completed the dot-B course to accredit her to deliver mindfulness in schools. Sarah regularly hosts Mindfulness groups for both young people and adults.
